My Perfect Day Has Become Crystal Clear

A few years ago, while I was part of an intense boot camp with remarkable entrepreneurs, one of our assignments was to write about something called, My Perfect Day.  We were told to “live” our perfect day.  In order to do this we would write out our story of what our perfect day would look like.

How fun this was!

Step one was to sit quietly and dream.  Dream so vividly that you see yourself in your own movie of your perfect day.

It’s such a wonderful exercise to do that I suggest YOU do it!  I wrote mine out on my PC and revisit it periodically to tweak it but for the most part, My Perfect Day is constantly playing in my head. It has become crystal clear.

Watch this quick video before you begin.

My Perfect Day

My husband, John, and I live at the beach. And today is My Perfect Day.

There’s something tremendously soothing to me to see and hear the sea.

2017-09-09_1529

Our home is comfortably casual.

John and I didn’t need a lot of space.

Space to me creates clutter so the less we have, the better.

We actually live in a gated condo community.

Our condo is one floor with a living room along with our master bedroom opening to a sun room facing the sea. There’s one more bedroom that is primarily used as an office but is easily converted to a guest bedroom. We have 2 full bathrooms and a kitchen with an island to eat right there in the kitchen on bar stools.

There was no need for a dining room.

We are casual people and enjoy most meals, when eating at home, outside on our screened in sun room.

Our walls are painted in blues and greens to compliment the colors of the sea.

It’s very low maintenance to clean.

At this time of my life …
… it’s all about enjoying myself, my family and my friends.

This is My Perfect Day!

My day starts out with waking up whenever I have had enough sleep.

No matter what the weather is I’m outside in the sun room in my cushy chair with my book. I usually read each morning to stay in my positive frame of mind. It isn’t hard for me though because my life is so complete.

I smile and count my blessings today that I am able to live this lifestyle.

It was a long time coming and I’m here today!

2017-09-09_1529_001

The breeze is cool today and the sea is calm. Perfect for a mid-morning dream sleep.

Everyday John and I have a group of friends that meet for lunch at a little restaurant on the beach. We walk up the beach about a half mile and join them.

This started by chance just talking to people at the next table and questioning, “We’ll see you tomorrow?” And when the answer was yes, the date was set.

Today, friends come and go. Some days we might be missing someone and other days John and I might skip it. Or some days John might go alone without me and vice versa. But all of us know someone is always there!

It’s a great feeling having that camaraderie. We have so much fun just being together. We tease each other and laugh and have a great time. So today is no exception. We will be leaving for the walk in about an hour.

Also what I like about my perfect day is …

We get there when we get there.

2017-09-09_1530

Around 3-4 pm we’ll start the trek back down the beach to our condo …

walking in the water …

stopping to pick up a special shell or two.

John just shakes his head because he knows I’m bringing more shells home to add to my collection. It’s a ritual for me – to pick up at least one shell each day. I am adamant about that.

At the end of our walk I might throw some back in the sea and only keep the special “finds” of the day.

At home my treasures are laid out in the sun room for one last inspection and to dry. They’ll be added to my clear glass urn later in the evening.

As the sun sets, it’s a special time for me to go down to the beach and lay in our hammock.

I take several pillows and a blanket in case it starts to get cool, my iPad and a glass of iced tea.

This is my best quiet time.

John knows I’ll be there for an hour or so.

I catch up with friends from all over the world through Facebook and emails. I might play a game or two on my iPad.

It’s a perfect time to enjoy myself.

We go out to dinner! We love that!

John teases me that we have to dust our stove before we ever cook at home.

I’ve never really liked to cook. I cooked when we were living up North when the weather got cold, wet and snowy. When we had our business up there, the only thing I wanted to do was to get home, put on my fuzzy sleepers and make a comfort food type dinner.

Living in warm weather now makes it easy to go out for dinner.

Besides, our day is filled with leisure just doing things when we want … nighttime dinners out is a great way to end each day!  And also we can decide to eat whatever each of us wants. I think we’ve tried most every restaurant in town. We have our favorites because of good food and great staff.

Tonight we are heading out to our favorite pizza place.

2017-09-09_1530_001

Upon returning home, the lights on timers have come on.

I love coming home with a few strategically placed lights that are lit.

I look past the kitchen and living room to our sun room. I am drawn to our sun room every morning and every night. I can’t possibly describe to you how it looks. You will just have to come visit.

Tonight the moon is glowing and the low lights give me such a sense of contentment.

My reading chair and ottoman are calling to me.

John stretches out on the wicker sofa. Our bellies are full.

He starts to snore …

I smile …

I well up with “good” tears …

I have arrived.

I have my perfect day.

I have my perfect life.

I encourage you to dream about what your perfect day looks like …
… Visualize yourself living in it.
Feel it …
Touch it …
Work out all the details.

What does it look like?
Where are you?
What are you doing?
Who are you with?
Why is this your perfect day?
What makes this day so wonderful?
Really feel it … Get lost in it …
Then write it down. Let the words flow describing your perfect day.

Let me know how you feel in the comments below. Share your perfect day with me. I’d love to read it!

Testing The Law Of Intention | Law Of Attraction

In February 2016, after learning about the Law of Attraction and the Law of Intention …

… I decided to do a little experiment of my own.

So I did.

Watch what I did in this 3-minute video below.

Testing The Law Of Intention

Here are the key points I used:

  • I reminded myself every morning upon waking up and every evening when going to bed that “I have lost 5 pounds this past week.”
  • I carried this intention with me wherever I went last week.
  • I was aware that things might not go my way and that there is a reason, should that be so.
  • I reminded myself to practice present-moment awareness in all my actions.
  • I refused to allow obstacles to consume and dissipate the quality of my attention in the present moment.
  • I spoke about this both to myself and out loud in the present tense, that this intention had already been completed.

And it worked!

Try it yourself.

  • Make an intention of something important you want to accomplish.
  • Speak of it as already completed.
  • Set a deadline date for completion.
  • Keep this intention as a priority thought until your completion date.

Let me know if it works.

Leave me your intention in a comment. I will watch it for you. I will help visualize your intention.

This Law Of Intention is a beautiful experiment!

The Surfin’ Sisters Road Trip

We call ourselves The Surfin’ Sisters.

We’re not much on the surfing part.  Well…frankly…none of us have ever surfed!  We’d most likely break an arm or a leg or drown.

This blog post is probably going to be meaningless unless you have a group of friends doing silly things that embarrass their kids!

That’s us! So read on!

The Surfin’ Sisters Road Trip

Girls’ Week Out

We all live in the middle of the United States, in St. Louis, Missouri.

The biggest chunk of water we can lay claim to is the Muddy Mississippi. You know…the river sailed by Huckleberry Finn

So it’s a real treat when we’ve been able to go to the beach.

We could go elsewhere on our adventures but we simply have a passion for sunshine, laughter, fun times and…

THE BEACH.

We’re great friends. The beach has brought us closer together. There’s 5 of us. We’ve been friends now for what seems to be FOREVER.  We’re in our 50’s and 60’s (shhhh! Don’t tell anybody!).

I look back on the 1st time we decided to do this – to leave husbands, boyfriends and kids at home. There were 6 of us then. For some reason life just got in the way for one of us and she no longer goes.

I soooo look forward to this trip. In fact, it was an unwritten prenuptial agreement I made with my husband-to-be at the time, that I wanted to go every other year to Girl’s Week Out. He said he understood. But today I think he’s unhappy when I’m away! I secretly hope so!

Anyway…..

Enough about that.

I’m sharing this year’s trip.

Surfin’ Sisters Road Trip, Girls’ Week Out

I’m writing this in hope you will enjoy this but also to encourage women everywhere if you aren’t already having getaways with girlfriends…

DO IT NOW!

Man-oh-man….  We’ve had some great times!

So this past summer we had our 13th trip to the beach.

It was a long day, close to an 12-hour drive to get from Point A to Point B with lots of little fun stops throughout the day, road construction and a complete stop through Mobile, Alabama.

We are “Car #2″.

We take two cars mainly for comfort purposes because riding for 11-12 hours with 5 girls in a car is just too cozy AND TOO CRAZY for us. Plus….  We take so much stuff! Car #1 always seems to leave 3 days before Car #2. They tell us some cock-a-mamie story about having to visit a friend of theirs that moved down there.

We think, (Car #2 that is) …  We think that Car #1 wants to get completely settled into the condo before the FUN CAR gets there!

02.01

What We Bring.

We were tired from the ride and it’s the last thing Car #2 wanted to do after the long ride down…to go to the grocery store. Since the first car has been down there already for 3 days prior to us, it was their job to go to the store. We’ve gotten this down to a fine science on what we bring.

We have a permanent shopping list designed to be split between all of us so we can save money.

This all started years ago when we went down to the coast with nothing.

We ended up buying over $400 at the local grocery store of things we could have brought from home. And…..

a whole lot of money going out to dinner every night.

Now, we each take a day to cook dinner and go out on the town two nights.

So we bring things like garbage bags and laundry soap and our nonperishable items for cooking.

We realized buying an entire box of dishwasher detergent was a waste when we only did maybe seven loads of dishes.

We split the list up and each of us watch for bargains at home and bring designated items. Groceries near the beach can be a lot more expensive.

Fresh vegetables, meats and dairy are purchased at the grocery store near our beach condo.  It works for us and saves us a TON of $$$.

It was my niece’s 19th birthday the day Car #2 left St. Louis. I promised her a birthday video. Here it is. See what we did in the video below.  Remember! We left at 5:00 AM! We don’t look very pretty!

CLICK BELOW TO SEE OUR CRAZY WAY OF WISHING MY NIECE HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

I know…..I’m weird…..but we had more fun asking random people we met along the road to wish Kristina a Happy Birthday.  I was amazed that people were so friendly. I had forgotten how so many people are so sweet! It made Kristina’s day. She laughed and THAT was the whole point!

05

This REAL REASON I am writing this post is to remind you about what friendship means … keep your friends close at hand, cultivate new friends and find the time to play together again. You see, it really doesn’t matter where we go or what we do. The point is we look forward to this trip every other summer.  We made a pact the first time we traveled that we would go together but it would be our own individual vacations also. In other words, we could make our own decisions to read all day, stay in bed until we felt like getting up, go to the beach by ourselves, run to the souvenir stores, whatever WE felt like doing. And no one would judge. That’s worked out well.

Until Later…

Love to all the Girl Groups

Zipper Pouches | How To Make A Zipper Pouch

While in Florida with the girls last month, we had several Craft Nights.

So we got busy!

  • A plastic bag with a zipper-type closure
  • Scissors or Exacto Knife (I prefer as Exacto Knife, especially if you don’t have sharp scissors)

How To Make A Beach Night Light

My four girlfriends and I have been going to the beach every other summer since 1992.

We just finished this summer’s trip and had a great time, as usual!

Since I’m passionate about crafts for all ages but especially adults, they appeased me this year!

You see, I believe … as we age … we need to keep our minds and our hands busy on creating something! Whether you have a garden, make special dinners, have holiday celebrations at your house or knit … those are all crafting times. It’s just as important to keep busy as you age – to keep creativity inside of you alive!

So, as I laid out the supplies for the Beach Night Light craft one evening, I watched and listened to the girls as they gathered around the table. I hadn’t told them what the craft projects for the week would be. YES! I said craft projects – plural!  All they knew was, we were doing three. So they were a little curious, I suspect!

This Beach Night Light project was an original idea of mine and I really didn’t know if it was even going to work. It was the first time ever these were made!

I must say …

It was a SUCCESS!  The Beach Night Light turned out cuter than I had expected! Each one was unique to the crafter that made it.

Beach Night Light

Supplies Needed:

  • Solar Stake Lights
  • glass or plastic jar (make sure the solar light will lay nicely on top)
  • sand
  • shells
  • drift wood (I went to a mulch pile and picked pieces that looked sort of like drift wood)
  • paint for solar lids (I used Krylon ColorMaster Catalina Mist)
  • beads (they will be buried in the sand)
  • fake grass for making sea grass or sea oats
  • glue
  • masking tape to cover the solar light part when painting the top
  • skewers (optional, for placing and moving things in the jar)
  • scissors (there’s always something to cut!)
  • a work surface (spread something in front of you to work on so you aren’t damaging table tops, I used foil)

IMG_4509 IMG_4510

Assembly:

  1. Start with the sea grass and beads.  Glue about 3 beads together leaving the center open for inserting the sea grass.  Let dry for a few minutes, then insert the sea grass. Add a little more glue to hold in place.
  2. Pour about 1-2 inches of sand in the jar.
  3. Place your sea grass into the sand covering the beads. Pour more sand in if you see the top of the beads.
  4. The creativity begins!  Add beach items.
  5. Remove the stake from the the top of the solar light. Unscrew the top from the plastic shade as if you were going to activate the battery. You won’t be using either of these pieces at all.  Tape the solar panel on the top area of the light with masking tape so you don’t get the spray paint on it.  Use the spray paint to cover the entire surface of the light. Be is a well ventilated area and use newspaper to avoid getting paint where you don’t want it! It goes everywhere! Trust me on this!
  6. Once the paint has dried, remove the tab on the light to activate the battery. Put it in the sun and power it up. Wait till you see how beautiful it is at night!
